💙REGISTER NOW♥️
# GRCC and RRCC Terry Fox Ride of Hope - 3rd Annual Manitoba Edition
GRCC and RRCC are co-hosting the 3rd annual Manitoba edition of the Terry Fox Ride of Hope.
The Terry Fox Ride of Hope is held across Canada; in 2024, we hosted the first such ride in Manitoba, in which 36 cyclists participated and raised $7,570 for the Terry Fox Foundation. In 2025, we raised $11,545!
This should be a fun ride: an opportunity to try a new route to the west of the city with a fun group, while supporting a good cause. There will be rest stops at Starbuck (37 km), Elie (68 km), and Saint François Xavier (100 km).
All participants must sign up on the Terry Fox site (link above).
We will again apply for a police escort for the first 15 km of the ride out of the city.

Terry Fox National Ride of Hope

“The ride is over, but we are not done.” — @dbacfox
On July 10th the Terry Fox National Ride of Hope came to a close in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Eight riders. 32 days. Over 7,000 km. An average of 220 km a day. And over $1.1 million raised for cancer research.
It was a ride to honour the 45th anniversary of the Marathon of Hope. But more than that—it was about finishing what Terry started.
On Day 15, Darrell Fox rode into Thunder Bay. The same place his brother Terry’s run was forced to end. That moment connected the original Marathon of Hope with the Ride of Hope. A family, 45 years later, completing the crossing of Canada. A legacy fulfilled, in motion, on the same soil.
@greenroute.cc’s Founder, Dan, riding for Manitoba, had the honour of joining the national team as a provincial rider. He shared the road with Darrell—quiet, steady, and tough as nails. At 63, Darrell led by example: no complaints, no ego, no backing down from 10-hour days in wind, rain, and heat. When Dan asked Darrell to let him know when he wanted him to take a pull and shield him from the headwinds, Darrell just smiled and said, “You may never hear from me.”
That’s the kind of strength that changes people.
Congratulations to all the National Riders, the support crew, and the Terry Fox Foundation. You finished on schedule. You shattered your fundraising goal. You carried Terry’s spirit from ocean to ocean—and passed it to a new generation.
This wasn’t just a ride.
It was history.
It was hope.
It was Terry.

2025 Hare & The Hound

On May 10, over 65 riders lined up at Birds Hill Park for 5 fast laps (~56km). Cat 5 started first, chased by Cat 4 (+6 min) and Cat 1/2/3 (+12 min). It was full gas all day with riders working together to stay away, or catch the pack ahead.
In dramatic fashion, Cat 4 caught the 5s on the final lap. It all came down to a sprint… and Terron (Cat 5) held on for the repeat win!
Huge thanks to everyone who raced, cheered, and helped make it happen, specifically volunteers, medics, families, MCA, and Woodcock Cycle Works for the prizes!

2024 Terry Fox Manitoba Ride of Hope

Calling all cyclists! The Ride of Hope is a great opportunity to pedal for progress in cancer research!
Inspired by his brother Terry, Darrell Fox and a few friends organized the first Terry Fox Ride of Hope in 2015 to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Marathon of Hope. The one-day 350 km ride culminated at the base of Mount Terry Fox in British Columbia. Today the Ride of Hope is a collection of diverse rides that offer recreational and challenging distances and terrain. All rides include camaraderie, scenic vistas, and wonderful experiences for the rider!
Terry loved a challenge. He was competitive, compassionate, and dedicated to raising money for cancer research. He took himself to the limit, setting an example of what is possible if you try. The Ride of Hope offers a unique fundraising and cycling experience for serious cyclists, cycling enthusiasts, and recreational riders. If you love to ride, and want to support your community, the Ride of Hope is for you.
